About
Henri Bergson’s concept of “virtual” describes memory as immaterial, formed by the brain through sensory perception. These virtual images, though formless, deeply shape how we understand the world. Perception is not only an interaction with the external environment but also includes internal processes like memory, imagination, and interpretation, creating a continuous cycle between perception and memory.
Born in 1999, Jinrong Kuang completed his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) and his Master’s degree in Illustration and Visual Media at the University of the Arts London (UAL), where he explored the intersections between technology and the humanities.
As an interdisciplinary artist, Jinrong’s practice conveys contemporary themes through a unique narrative and visual language. He is dedicated to creating a personal, immersive theater through creativity and imagination, using painting as the central medium, while also integrating various new media to explore their characteristics and potential. Through the dialogue between these mediums, Jinrong seeks to break traditional boundaries and create new experiences that stimulate perception and thought. The innovation in the medium serves to deepen and strengthen the expression of the theme rather than merely pursuing novelty.
Jinrong focuses on themes related to everyday experience, spatial places, and the complex relationship between individual subconscious and societal conditions. Drawing inspiration from everyday traces, Jinrong transforms neglected details into art that carries narrative and emotional tension. His works challenge habitual perceptions of the environment, encouraging viewers to reconsider the space and experiences around them from a fresh perspective.
Through experimental exploration of different media, Jinrong aims to reinforce the central idea of his works and establish a deeper connection between vision and meaning. This connection is not just a formal presentation but also an exploration and critique of daily behaviors and social norms. Jinrong hopes that through the interaction and experience of his works, viewers will reconsider social rules, inspiring a deeper emotional and cognitive resonance.
